Right outside Washington, D.C. in Arlington, VA is a great place for your pet to stay while you’re away!  Fur-Get Me Not Pet Care ensures first and foremost that all dogs are day care and boarding friendly and require an evaluation before they attend.  They also ask that dogs that will be boarding with them overnight come to the daycare for half a day at least to ensure your dog a comfortable stay while you’re gone.  They will group your dog into one of three play groups that they choose based on temperament, size, and ages of the dogs that come to stay with them.  At the end of your dog’s stay with Fur-Get Me Not you’ll receive a detailed day by day summary of your dogs activities and behavior during their stay!

3. Dog-ma

While boarding at Dog-ma, your dog will be treated to their Dog-ma “Bed and Breakfast” experience.  Your dog will enjoy playing all day in their 7,000 indoor and outdoor space with several other dogs and the on-site caretakers.  You’re dog is guaranteed at least 12 hours of interaction and activity a day, and at night your dog can retreat to a private den for some much deserved snooze time.  Dog-ma asks that you bring your dog’s food from home, otherwise there is a $2.00 charge per meal.  As always, they want to ensure the safety of all the pets that board with them and require an evaluation before having your pet board with them.

4. Planet Pet

Planet Pet is the perfect place for your playful pal to spend some time while you’re gone.  Staffed 24 hours a day, your pup is guaranteed to have a supervised safe and fun time.  They require each dog to pass a socialization process as well as be up to date on vaccinations prior to boarding.  They also ask that your dog be wearing a collar with name tags and that you bring a leash with you.  This is so that your dog can take part in their “Powerwalk” program, which happen multiple times throughout the day on weekdays.  They also offer a pick up and drop off program if you are unable to bring your pet in yourself!

5. Happy Paws

At Happy Paws they are all about treating your dog to luxury boarding experience.  They’ve got customizable boarding packages for every type of dog from the basic Buster to the pampered pooch!  Here your dog will enjoy a full day of play, constant supervision, and a bunch of TLC.  Happy Paws is equipped with a full time veterinarian on call 24/7 so you never have to worry about your dog’s safety and health.  Your dog will never be left alone and if you’d like to check up on them, they’ve got live cams for you to check in on them from any smartphone or computer.

6. City Dogs

Give your dog a vacation while you’re on your vacation at City Dogs!  You’re dog will enjoy constant supervision in a cage free environment all day long.  The staff also stays at the facility overnight ensuring a safe and happy stay.  They limit the number of dogs that they take per night in order to provide quality care for each dog and require reservations in advance.  They offer a mid-day walk add on as well for dogs who would like to get some one on one and exercise time. 7. Paws Awhile Pet Motel

At Paws Awhile Pet Motel, your dog is sure to have a great time!  There’s plenty of room to roam as Paws Awhile Pet Motel has both indoor and outdoor spaces for your dog to hang out.  They also offer a space for your pooch to have some privacy as each dog boarding with them has their own sleeping and exercise area.  Cleanliness and safety is key at Paws Awhile, so they inspect all the animal enclosures at least three times per 24 hours.  Their facility also features a high rate air exchange system which reduces the chance of your dog catching an airborne disease.  The facility is run by two Orthodox Christian Monastics, Mother Eirene and Sister Elizabeth, who both love animals and devote their time to caring for your animals as their own.   Be sure to check out their website for more info on all the services they offer!
