There are many myths and questions about what is and is not safe for your dogs to eat. So lets debunk some myths and check out what is and is not safe for our pups to consume!
1. Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is a great treat for dogs. With tons of good fats and vitamins for your pup, it is a VERY safe and healthy food to give to your dog.
Yes cheese IS safe for your dog to eat! Make sure your dog is not lactose intolerant before you treat them to some cheesy goodness first!
Yogurt’s is a safe people food for your dog as long as there are no artificial sweeteners or added sugars. Yogurts active bacteria can act as a probiotic that can be very good for your dog’s digestive system.
Pumpkin can help to keep your dog’s GI track moving and it is a good source of fiber.
5. Green Beans
This low calorie-low sodium veggie is great for your pup as a treat! (especially if they are trying to loose weight)
Xylitol is a substance found in sugar free foods. If you dog ingests this substance, it could cause seizures and/or liver failure.
2. Grapes and Raisins
Grapes and raisins have recently been known to induce kidney failure in dogs. So keep those puppies away from the grapes!
With the rise in popularity of dark chocolate (that are 60-70% cocoa) they can be very dangerous to your dog, especially the little guys. So keep your dog away from chocolate, which can cause abnormal heartbeats, seizures, and death.
Onions are not good for your puppies! Ingestion of high levels of onions can cause life threatening anemia in dogs. So stay away from the onions!
