Whew! Summer is coming, and the temperature outside is rising. Can you imagine having pounds of fluffy fur during the summer heat? Our pets definitely get hot during the summer, but there are a few tricks out there to help them beat the heat and enjoy the sunshine!
1. Chicken Broth Ice Cubes
Make sure to use no-salt added chicken broth with no onion or garlic in it (these are yucky to dogs)! Just pour in an ice cube tray and freeze, then give to pets to enjoy an exciting frosty snack!
2. Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Pops
Simply mix 2 tbsp peanut butter, 32 oz. plain yogurt and 1 banana with a blender or electric mixer, pour into little cups and put in the freezer for a half hour. Insert dog biscuits into the half-hardened batter and put it back in the freezer until completely frozen! Pop them out of the cups for a delicious dog treat!
3. Ice Cube Filled Kong
Depending on the size of your Kong and the size of your ice cube tray, this can keep dogs hydrated and interested! Throw a couple of the broth ice cubes in there for extra satisfaction.
4. Make A Pup-Shake
Who doesn’t love a milkshake? In a blender, combine 1/4 cup cold water, 6 oz plain greek yogurt, half a banana, a hard boiled egg if you want to add protein, and a half cup of ice cubes. Put in a glass or bowl for your pup to enjoy!
5. Water On The Rocks
This one is so simple, just add ice cubes to your pets water bowl throughout the day! It’ll keep your dogs water cold, and he/she might just steal the cubes out and eat them!
